Feeling “Antisocial”?

Our masculine dominated society doesn’t value our need to go within, but it is all part of a natural cycle. You see we are conditioned to always be “ON”, but that’s not the way we are truly wired: our whole life consists of cycles and one which we often steer clear of is the need to withdraw. There is value in doing this, not just for our mental health but for our ability to nurture ourselves and be comfortable with our own company.

Nature is a wonderful teacher, who we can always turn to for advice.  Although she doesn’t literally speak to us, if we look at what plants and animals do during the winter months (less activity outside and more energy being conserved) we realize that it is perfectly normal to spend time indoors away from social activity. 

The problem these days is that unless we also withdraw from social media, we start getting FOMO when we see the “fun” being had by all our friends who are out and about.  My advice is to put  the phone down, run a warm bath with candles, relaxing music and whatever else you enjoy so you can bask in the JOMO of doing absolutely nothing!
