Herbal Medicine
.Herbal medicine is the oldest and still the most widely used system of medicine in the world today. It is medicine made exclusively from plants. There are many different forms of herbal medicine: it can be straight from the plant (such as aloe vera juice) or prepared in a way to make it more usable or potent. There are processing methods such as distillation or maceration used to concentrate the healing properties of the plant.
Herbal teas can have a therapeutic benefit if consumed in regular amounts. Most Western Herbal Medicine practitioners who operate in Australia use tinctures, which are a liquid form of the plant combined with alcohol to preserve the product.
When you have a consultation with Mardi she takes into consideration signs and symptoms of any conditions (physical, mental and emotional) and uses a number of different tinctures to create a combination of different herbs to makes a specific herbal remedy just for you.
Over the past few decades there has been increasing scientific study into the benefits and uses of herbal medicine and the active constituents of individual plants. Many pharmaceutical medicines used today have been derived from chemicals found in plants. The beauty of using the whole plant is that there are many benefits to the parts of the plant which may not have their scientific credentials discovered yet (hence are overlooked and excluded from the
pharmaceutical drug).
Mardi believes that, if possible, it is best to use medicines and healing methods as close to nature. She often uses herbal medicine to help bring her client’s bodies back into equilibrium before taking the next steps in their healing journey.
