This week has been another enormous growth period in my Sound healing journey… I have spent 4 days in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, in Maleny, studying and practicing the art of sound healing for clients in a one-to-one session.
Wow , what an experience! I was so excited to be there in the beautiful setting of Maleny, not to mention getting in some hands on practice with other energy healers. Being a sole practitioner, it is rare that I get to practice my craft with other people who totally get what I’m doing and are willing to open up to the powers of energy and vibrational healing.
The healing powers of sound and vibration have been around for centuries, if not millennia, however, it has only been in recent decades that western cultures have been willing to adopt some of these techniques. It continually astounds me that despite many ancient cultures using “alternative” medicine for treating and healing chronic illness, it is only when western medical science can “prove” a technique works that it is then accepted. Sound Healing is a perfect example of this. In my experience, it usually takes a few decades for “science” to adopt valuable methods of treatment and for many people, this can be too late. In modern medicine, the most common treatment for chronic health issues is management of symptoms – never treating the true cause of an illness.
Chronic illness manifests in the energetic field long before it shows up on a physical level. That’s why I’m so excited to be incorporating my new sound healing tools into all my energy healing treatments. Even if the only benefit is the relaxing sounds a client hears, to help calm down their stress response. That in itself is better than taking a pill to reduce blood pressure or regulate a out of balance thyroid gland.
Modern medicine is just starting to come around to the idea that suppressed emotions can manifest as physical symptoms, but they don’t know how to treat emotions – other than write a prescription for anti-depressants or anti-anxiety. The sooner western culture gets on board with treating the most insidious disease of the 21st century (stress) the better off we all will be.
But I digress! Back to my Sound Healing Workshops…
Throughout the four days we worked using crystal quartz bowls, drums, gongs and Tibetan bowls, all of which I have been using throughout this year, however I was able to refine my practice to work on individuals using instruments to assess energy depletion and over abundance of energy. The purpose of which is to help bring an individual’s energetic field back into balance and hence create harmony in mind, body and spirit.
Despite using all the instruments mentioned above, the instrument that gave me the most options in regard to energy and sound healing was the Tuning Forks. These are so transportable and in an individual session, useful for many conditions to bring balance back into the body. When it was my turn to receive a healing treatment, I was able to get my headache cleared and sore throat resolved – how good is that! – without any pharmaceuticals in sight! I can’t wait to use these tools to support my family members over Christmas, and then start 2024 with a fabulous group sound bath and energy healing for all my clients.
