Perimenopause & Stress

Are you dealing with life challenges as well as perimenopause?

Why does perimenopause coincide with so many other major life changes?  Beside the well-known symptoms associated with the lead up to menopause, there’s often a whole range of other things happening in your life:

  • Changing career/work direction
  • A sense of loss as kids grow up
  • Becoming responsible for ageing parents
  • Relationship confrontations
  • Other health concerns
As a naturopath/meditation and yoga teacher, I see many women in my practice dealing with many of these challenges around the same time they start noticing the physical signs of perimenopause – it really is a perfect storm!

It is clear that stress is a major contributing factor to many of the symptoms suffered.

Whilst we can’t control all of the stressors in our life, what we can do is prepare our bodies and minds so that we are “fit” to cope with all these changes.

One simple you can do to help your body cope with the stress can be done whilst sitting in a chair at work or at home.  All you need to do is stop what you are doing, close your eyes and concentrate on your breath.

You might be surprised at how focusing on your breathing technique can make a difference to your emotions and your ability to remain calm in a stressful situation.   In just 10 slow breaths you can create a more soothing restful state within your body.  If you want to learn more, let me know and I can send you a free breathing recording for you to try out.  If you want further support, feel free to reach out.

Mardi
